ASU Ceramic Research Center- Bianca Ybarra, Week 2

                               Week 2!!

Hello again everyone! This week has flown by fast :). On Monday and Friday, I worked remotely. On Tuesday, I worked at the Ceramic Research Center, and on Wednesday and Thursday, I worked at the ASU Art Museum.

Most of my tasks have stayed the same throughout the week. My primary role is researching information for upcoming exhibits and events. I have been expanding my research on the indigenous ceramics and artists, and I have started formatting the guide. In addition to the research I've gathered, I have to include elements of art and design.

Doing research in the museum workshop

At the Ceramic Research Center, I mainly focused on the Mexican Independence Day celebration. I had my supervisor review the list of crafts I made, and then I started designing flyers with the tutorials.

Currently, the main museum is in the process of going "dark", meaning it is being closed to put in new exhibitions. It is really interesting to see a museum in such a raw state.

An empty gallery

In preparation for the new exhibits, which will open in August and September,  I am creating playlists and book lists for visitors. They don't have to be super specific; they might relate to only one aspect of the exhibition, or match the mood of it. This task has been very fun and has challenged me to think more creatively.

On Thursday, I participated in giving a tour to one of the new ASU directors.  I learned about the relationships between the museum and the community, and how they want to incorporate art into education. Since most of the museum is closed, we were only able to show two of the gallery spaces. One of the galleries featured artwork from a Mexican artist. The other gallery featured work by a queer Texan artist.

That's it for now, I hope you all have a great next week!
