Arte Américas - ❀ Isabelle O'Neill ❀, Week 3

☙❂✵Week 3✵❂❧

❦    Hi guys! This week marked a complete change of pace for me, as I moved from the educational programs team to the marketing and development team. The staff at Arte is small and tight-knit, so even though I switched desks, I still saw everyone daily. Now, I get to experience the behind-the-scenes work that keeps a nonprofit alive, from consistent marketing to maintaining meaningful connections with the community.
❦    I was first assigned to assist in entering over 250 followers' usernames into a Microsoft Excel sheet for a Shakira tickets giveaway.
Unfortunately, the only
picture of me I got this week.
❦    My next few tasks involved using volunteer liability forms and any other paper copies to turn them digital, and taking advantage of the opportunity to teach myself how to use Excel.

❦    Time management became a big theme for me this week. With multiple small projects on my plate, I had to learn how to prioritize and keep everything moving without feeling overwhelmed, a valuable lesson for my first paid job. I also stepped out of my comfort zone by working on the phones, calling members to help renew their memberships. It was a bit intimidating at first, but I know this is a skill I’ll need in any professional setting.

❦    One of my favorite moments was being invited to sit in on staff meetings. It felt exciting to hear updates about upcoming events, especially Arte’s largest event of the year: Cala Gala, their annual Día de los Muertos celebration. The energy and creativity behind the planning process are inspiring, and without giving too much away… let’s just say this year’s celebration is shaping up to be truly unforgettable.
❦    I can’t believe I’m already 3/4 of the way through my internship. Every week brings new challenges and insights, and I’m starting to realize just how much I’ve learned.

Thank you all for reading, and gracias Ford!!!
