Museum of Latin American Art- Giselle Bustos, Week 4
My latest blog yet, but my best week too!
Because this is my last week, the summer camp at the Museum has already ended. Now completing my practicum ,my supervisor and I had discussed since the beginning of July that all the photographs I had been taking of the summer camp would serve purpose of a presented slideshow and the creation of a carousel post for the Museum's Instagram. I had Monday and Tuesday off so I was only assigned to create content for the rest of the week.
My experiences this last week increase my knowledge of inner workings of museums because I was now the person in charge of promoting the museum and showing others why they should enroll family to the summer arts camp. From all I had been capturing as a communications and media intern it serve purpose to showing others what the campers did and why art is so important to remain engaged with. Throughout the weeks I learned about the purpose of art and storytelling comma educating, and practicing hands-On craft.
Similar to how Jimmy capture pictures of us during Washington week, I took pictures of the campers in action creating art at camp.
Here I also thought it would be nice to include a screenshot from my own computer where I was on the Canva application working on the social media post. I featured a little sentence where I said most of my summer has been spent with young children and it is not something I would complain about.
I enjoyed my time with the kids and even made best friends with some of them. In the screenshot you can see where I worked on the Planton Movil Parade, and my not so human best friend I also made, Luca the Pomeranian!
Though my time at MOLAA has come to an end closing off week 4, it is one of the best experiences I have had within education. I feel immensely prepared to soon enter a new perspective as a college student making so many connections and relationships with professionals I aspire to become one day.
I am very thankful for the Smithsonian and the young ambassadors program for putting me in the right place to where I am now. I know I have been fostered and cultivated through the right steps to lead the future as a great first generation student at the #1 Public University soon. Thank you to all my fellow young ambassadors and I hope you're practicums were as much enjoyable as mine was for me.
Sincerely, Giselle Bustos
