Museo de Historia, Antropología y Arte Melanie Torres Crespo - Week 4 Hello everyone! Welcome once again to my week 4 recap at the Museum of History, Anthropology, and Art. This week was also shorter, since Monday was a holiday day in Puerto Rico. However, I still completed a lot of tasks and explored new things. Tuesday was mainly focused for organizing the digital archive of the museum. It contains papers, books, scanned artworks, and other multimedia; thus, I really enjoyed having the chance to sort through these documents and images. Furthermore, I worked in the museum reception answering calls and helping visitors. I also took care of the huerto and other plants surrounding the museum! This week in general, the temperatures have been very high, so it was important to always water them. This is one of my favorite daily tasks. During Wednesday , I printed, cut, and started gluing the papers with fixed, updated information of the museum to the brochures.  Each brochure has...

August 1st, 2025  History Colorado Center Week 4 Hi everyone! Today, August 1st, marks the end of my last week interning at the History Colorado Center. Although I am a bit sad that this is all coming to an end, I am extremely grateful to have been given this opportunity to meet so many kind and amazing people!  I have learned so much throughout this practicum experience, and that is thanks to everyone who made this possible.  Since today was my last day, this will also be my last blog!   ☆ ★ ☆ ★  Tuesday  ☆ ★☆ ★ Tuesday was a work-from-home day for me, but I also had my reading event at the Rodolfo "Corky" Gonzales Branch Library! I was a bit nervous because there were no previous YAP alumni to help host the event with me, and  I wasn't sure what to expect . M y audience ended up being my siblings and babies/toddlers with their parents; it wasn't really what I was expecting, so that threw me off a little bit. I think I was nervous because I wasn'...

National Hispanic Cultural Center — Fausto Dozal, Week 3

Image
On July 28th, I continued to work on inventory and ended my research on Think, See, Feel. On July 29th, I helped the other interns on different research, and we collaborated on refining different ideas regarding educational outreach. On July 30th, I had my storytime, and we got to explore 516 Arts Museum to understand a different museum model. On July 31st, we had a field trip to Santa Fe, New Mexico, and we explored the International Museum of Folk Art and SITE Santa Fe—two museums with operational models that differ from the National Hispanic Cultural Center. On August 1st, I attended First Friday—a monthly volunteer outreach event—and got to meet with the museum’s most dedicated volunteers. I also got to meet with the museum’s graphic designer and understand the work that she does there. At the end of the day, I helped the NHCC set up one of their outreach events called Vamos Arte.

ASU Ceramics Research Center - Bianca Ybarra, Week 4

Last Week!!!          I want to start by saying what a great experience this has been. I have met many wonderful people and learned so much about art! I will miss working alongside the ASU Art Museum community, but I hope to visit again soon!           This week's schedule consisted of me working remotely on Monday and Tuesday, and in person at the CRC Wednesday through Friday.                Monday-Thursday The blank wall     I spent the majority of the week researching the artist Doug Baldwin and brainstorming ideas for the large display. I wrote a page on Baldwin describing his artwork, inspiration, and purpose. The more difficult task was organizing information about ceramics that would be digestible and engaging to the average visitor. I didn't want to overcrowd the space with text, so I design...

Griffin Museum of Science and Industry - Irene Frias, Week 4

Hi Everyone,  It has been an incredible honor to be apart of this program, and complete my practicum with an amazing team. I will forever be changed, inspired, and grounded by this experience as a whole. I was challenged in so many ways, with a variety of different projects and problems. I have learned a lot about myself through this, even motivating me to continue exploring STEM fields.  This week served as an extended goodbye, I focused mainly on compiling the work I have accomplished. The time invested in my symbol map paid off as management of the education department loved it, and will begin using the application for future data visualization means. For this I wrote directions on how I achieved the map on the application, and how to input data.  With that, I worked on designing a one pager for our Girls in STEM programming. As well as designing a bubble rocket to 3D print, which I actually able to print and the team will do test runs with it! I am looking forward to ...

Dixon Gallery and Gardens—Fatima Hernandez, Week 4

Image
Dixon Gallery and Gardens Breathtaking Gardens at Dixon Buenas! This marks my last week at the beloved Dixon; a journey that I will miss without a doubt. I am extremely grateful to have been given the opportunity to intern as everyone I worked with had and has shown me nothing but respect and kindness. This will be my last week working, but never my last week visiting as I hope to come back every year! Now let’s get into my activities for the week: Monday In the morning, the education sector had a meeting to discuss the tasks for the week and upcoming projects to plan. We discussed my responsibilities and then I went straight into finishing up in prepping the activity for family night, which was cutting the vinyl sticky papers in half and using the cricut to cut out the figures. By the end of the week, I was able to finish all of them. Tuesday On Tuesday, I assisted with the mini masters. The theme of the day was Bugs! Which the kids seemed to have fun with as near the end they w...

International Museum of Art and Science - Madison Hernandez, Week 4

Hello, everybody! Today officially marks my very last day at the IMAS museum. While I am sad to go, I am grateful that I had the opportunity to be a part of this program and work alongside a team of so many incredible people. I am also proud to say that the video project was completed in full this week and will be used to introduce not only new staff members to the IMAS’ inner workings but will also be shown to board members so they can develop a closer relation to the staff.      Monday was completely b-roll focused. While I had plenty of additional footage of the educators because of their hands-on presence throughout the open hours of the museum, the same could not be said about the other departments. Thus, I went down the line of staff to gather (and at times, stage) footage of them operating in their various environments. I honestly believe that out of everything I had done these past three weeks, this has been my favorite part. It was incredibly ...

International Museum of Art and Science - Madison Hernandez, Week 3

Image
Hello, everyone. This past week has officially been my third complete week at IMAS. Since the bulk of the filming process wrapped up during the second week, it left me with an insane amount of editing to do. By the end of this week, I had compiled over two hundred clips of 21 staff members into a 30 minute onboarding video.      If I had known that the rest of the week would be spent sitting down in front of the computer, I would have been a bit more grateful to still have three more filmed interviews to complete on Monday. Those of which, consisted on my supervisor, who had been in D.C. the week before, the marketing coordinator, and the exhibits technician. One of my favorite parts of directing the interviews which I am not sure if I touched on in my last blog post was being creative and utilizing every area of the museum to create unique backgrounds for each interviewee. This time, I had stationed my supervisor in El Studio, an interactive art studi...
